Kulima Programme in Brief
'KULIMA' is an abbreviation which stands for 'kutukula ulimi m'Malawi', a phrase in Malawi's main local language Chichewa which means 'promoting farming in Malawi.'
The programme, implemented from June 2017 to June 2023, has been designed to strategically contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and aligned to the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) II, the overarching medium-term development strategy and the National Agriculture Policy on sustainable agriculture production and productivity.
The overall objective of Kulima is to promote sustainable agricultural growth to increase incomes, employment and food security in Malawi in the context of a changing climate.
